Alyda’s journey in the field of physical therapy began with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and a minor in Anthropology from the University of Victoria. She continued her academic pursuit at the University of Alberta, graduating with a Masters of Science in Physical Therapy in 2020.
But Alyda’s passion for athletic training started long before her formal education. From the age of 15, she delved into the world of athletic training, working with various varsity and community teams including football, soccer, rowing, track and field, and basketball. This early exposure nurtured her dedication to working with athletic populations, shaping her treatment approach to emphasize longevity and optimal performance.
Beyond her work with high-performance athletes, Alyda has diversified her experience by working with neurological, pediatric, and orthopedic populations. Her versatility in addressing a wide range of conditions showcases her commitment to holistic care and patient well-being.
Alyda’s personal journey mirrors her professional interests. From earning her black belt in competitive martial arts at the age of 13 to developing a love for weightlifting, yoga, and outdoor adventures during her university years, she embodies an active lifestyle. She seamlessly integrates this passion into her treatment sessions, aiming to motivate and inspire others to embrace movement and wellness.
Outside of her professional pursuits, Alyda enjoys staying active in the gym, immersing herself in hockey games, exploring the great outdoors, and experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen. Her diverse interests not only enrich her life but also contribute to her well-rounded approach to patient care.
